I am about to order the Olympus S. 8000, my first non-Canon product in ten years. I think “tough” is what my gift to my wife should be. What I want to know (and could not find at the Olympus site or here) is the frames per second. My Canon DSLR is 12mp(megapixels) and gets 3 1/2 frames per second and is superb. My 1mp and 5mp rangefinders are slow, like 1 frame per second which is useless for action shots. And I find that anything greater than 4 mps is overkill as I print usually 4X6s or E-mail. You can’t e-mail anything larger than 2mp to most servers.
So, how fast is it? And read the 1 star review with a leaky lens; I assume it was an exception and he got a replacement.

Item was returned because the buttons were too small for me to operate, start-up was too slow, and the image stabilization was inferior to other products.

I really enjoy this camera, but to recharge the battery you have to insert inside the camera not pratical at all, because it was a very expensive camera, if you have an extra battery you will have to buy a separate charger or wait forever for both batteries to charge…I am really disappointed with Olympus, how could this company be so cheap…This is my second Olympus camera, I have the Stylus 1050 and they included a separate charger with it, I guess this will be the last time I buy a Olympus camera…
